Today’s Gratitude
I am a strong believer and advocate of appreciating all that you have right now. We live in a world that heavily focuses on the mindset that “I’ll be happy when I have *insert status, money value, or pretty much anything. We live so much in our heads that we project into the future self of “I’ll be happy then.” We don’t focus our energy into what we currently have. It is important to work towards goals, but you can’t appreciate the journey getting there if you don’t appreciate the beginning. With that being said, here is what I am grateful for today:
My job- I have officially been employed at this place for nine months. It has been one hell of a time. I was incredibly grateful to be given this job. Balancing working a 9-5 and a forty hour work week has been a lot and still can be. Then a pandemic hit. I wasn’t able to get to know my coworkers or ask questions you typically would. However today and this week have been amazing. I am better mentally which makes work SO MUCH BETTER. I am setting up a retirement fund… like what in the hell. I am truly proud of myself and this job has offered me so much.
My parents- I hadn’t called home in about a month. I had gotten swept up in my own life and healing myself that I didn’t make the time. Today I made time and it was lovely. I always call my home phone.. like a landline. I love whenever I call home that I am reminded to take it easy. We chatted for little over an hour about all sorts of stuff. I am so blessed to have two parents who love each other, have a healthy relationship, and love their kids.
Warm weather in October - While on the phone with my parents I wanted to make a point to go on a walk. I mean why not, you don’t do too much else while talking. My brain needed the fresh air too. Weather is something that dictates my mood a lot. I’m acknowledging that it is still warm and I am thankful for that because soon I am going to be cursing out the wind, snow and cold.
